Sophie Mort, who’s that again? Where did I disappear off the face of the planet to? Do I still have my charming good looks and impeccable wit?
I am back. Not with a vengeance but certainly with some coffee fuelled new inspiration, ideas and plenty of dreamy photographs that I can’t wait to share.
MOVING TO BIRMINGHAM
I suppose I should address the elephant in the room, where have I been? Luckily that elephant is a very happy one. I have finally moved to the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham to live with my best friend and crazy life partner. I’m really really happy. I don’t mean to be gushy but I don’t remember feeling this settled and happy, well… ever, to be honest; which is strange because Yorkshire is my home and always will be, but I guess my home is now a person more than a place and it’s just so lush. We got so lucky with where we live, it’s absolutely stunning, and old-fashioned, and quiet (perfect for nights in with cups of tea and FRIENDS like the old couple that we are) yet still only a 10 minute walk from the centre. We get WiFi on Wednesday, hence why I write this in a Caffè Nero, and damn right if you’re like me and love a good home haul of things you definitely didn’t need but bought anyway, keep your eyes peeled!
I’m still getting into a new routine but I will definitely be posting regularly again! I have lots of posts planned this month that I’m really excited about.
My photography business launched a couple of months ago and I’m really proud of it https://sophiemort.com. It’s all a work in progress but I’ve been lucky enough to shoot Bride & Groom’s happy days already, and I’ve booked a few for next year. These things take time but I really really enjoy shooting weddings, it doesn’t feel like work in any way. I’m also shooting some bloggers this month in Birmingham which will be interesting to see how I enjoy it and how it compares!
Myself and Tom had a week away to our favourite place in the world; Whitby. There’s just something about the sea that takes all of our stresses away. A travel guide will be up imminently but we spent the whole time being goofballs in arcades, eating good food, having long walks on the beach (sounding like a Tinder profile here), and just having some time out from life. It was perfect.
Film & Screenwriting is still on the cards. On Monday I start my university adventure. I’m only in for ten hours a week, it gives me a lot of time to blog and carry on my photography work, but I’m so excited to learn and develop skills in such an exciting area that I’ve always been so interested in.
That’s all for now with this post, I have a lot to share with you all and I’m really excited. Birmingham is a city full of life and I feel really inspired. Wishing you all the loveliest of weeks!
Bye for now,
