The Sunshine Blogger award is an award for a blogger who spreads positivity and joy amongst the blogging community, and I was so so surprised and flattered to see that I had been kindly nominated by Ruba from theduology.com (seriously check her gorgeous blog out).
Here below are the questions that I was asked:
WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO START BLOGGING?
I wanted to create a little positive corner of the internet to call my own. My whole career was something creative but none of it was in my control, so I wanted to have a little piece that was all down to my ideas and decisions, and here we are.
IF YOU COULD GIVE ONE PIECE OF ADVICE TO SOMEONE THINKING ABOUT STARTING A BLOG, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Just do it. In 2015 I started one and deleted it after a month because I was scared of what people thought. The fear of being judged always held me back, but you just have to realise that if a hobby that makes you happy, makes people judge you, then they’re not the kind of people that you want to surround yourself with in the first place. You do you, go out and have fun and find things that make you happy and if blogging is one of those things then embrace it!
HOW DO YOU OVERCOME YOUR FEARS?
It depends how bad they are. I’m terrified of needles but I donate blood, but by doing so I’ve overcome that fear (nearly). With something like spiders though, I won’t even go there. It’s good to be brave but also fear keeps us alive. Why do I sound like a 2008 tumblr post?
WHAT IS YOUR ALL TIME FAVOURITE MOVIE?
Back To The Future, but one of my favourite memories came from watching Nightcrawler with my boyfriend, so can I add that too?
IF YOU COULD CHANGE ONE DECISION IN YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
It’s hard because every decision you make, at that point in time felt like the right decision in that moment, but right now it would have to be to have focused on finding my own path, instead of helping others reach theirs.
ARE YOU USUALLY EARLY OR LATE?
Always about 10 hours early. If I’m ever not on time I’d be seriously worried about my whereabouts.
HOW DIFFERENT WAS YOUR LIFE ONE YEAR AGO?
Very different. I had more freedom and time to act but I had less control over my life, I had way less confidence and wasn’t into fitness at all, but I was also far more idealistic then. Lots of pros and cons but 2019 is coming and I’m going to make sure I change my life and make it my own again. Big statement I know.
WHAT IS THE HARDEST PART ABOUT BLOGGING?
Writing posts when you don’t always feel the motivation to do it, and also fitting it into my life. I’m really enthusiastic about it, but when its not the thing that pays your bills, it can’t always be your number one priority as much as you’d like it to be, but I love it and who knows what the future holds!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE TV SHOW?
Probably Friends, it’s just one of those shows that are always there in comfort, but I can’t get Making a Murderer out of my mind.
WHAT DO YOU DO TO RELAX?
Go for walks, workout, light candles and have some Sophie time. Listening to ASMR has been such a comfort that I’ve discovered this year.
ONE THING YOU LOVE ABOUT YOURSELF?
I pride myself on working really hard.
